Poetry Workshop
Sunday, January 21 from 2 to 4 pm
FREE EVENT, pre-registration required
Join us for a special museum workshop celebrating the last day of the photography exhibit, Reflections in Black and White, through exploring poetry inspired by visual art (known as Ekphrastic poetry). Local poets Martha Afetse’ and Joanne Durham will share poems by contemporary poets written from historic photographs as well as other art forms. Then you will have the opportunity to draft your own responses to photographs from the exhibit.
About the Presenters:
Wilmington-born Martha Afetse’ is the author of Footsteps to Freedom. Joanne Durham is the award-winning author of To Drink from a Wider Bowl and On Shifting Shoals. She teaches Ekphrastic poetry workshops online and through OLLI at UNCW.
